Posted by The Russian Railways Transport Company and Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) are willing to explore opportunities for arranging rail transport between Russia, South Korea and Europe, the Russian firm said in a statement on Friday.
Earlier in the day, Russian Railways and Korail signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation.
“The sides expressed their willingness to study the conditions for arranging rail transportation between South Korea, Russia and Europe, including a trilateral project of connecting Trans-Korean Railway and the Trans-Siberian Highway, that would involve North Korea, South Korea and Russia,’’ the statement read.
The memorandum was signed during South Korean leader Moon Jae-in’s three-day visit to Russia, during which he has already met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
